American Horse Council’s Annual Spring Youth Fly-In Set for May 14-17

The American Horse Council is excited to host the Annual Spring Youth Fly_in May 14-17, 2023, in Washington, D.C. This fly-in is open to all youth wishing to learn and participate in advocating for the equine industry.

Participants of the Fly-In will meet with their Members of Congress as well as Members who hold leadership positions relevant to the horse industry. AHC’s Youth representatives will also be briefed by industry partners and ally groups such as Farm Bureau, National Grange, the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association for Equine Practitioners, the U.S. Drug Administration, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“The young women and men of the horse industry will soon hold the reins as to the future. That’s why it is so important to host this event. The Youth Fly-In is a path to introduce and engage young people into the political process. Elected and regulatory officials in Washington make many decisions that impact young horse enthusiasts. This is an opportunity for them to learn the workings of Congress and offer their perspectives on horse welfare, public lands access, and a myriad of other issues.”

AHC staff and our industry allies and partners also benefit. These young equisterians bring excitement and fresh ideas.” Two qualities that will sustain our industry, ,” says Julie Broadway, president of the AHC. “

The American Quarter Horse Youth Association and the National Reining Horse Youth Association will be attending, with more expected to be named soon. Organizations and individuals are welcome.

There is no registration fee to attend this life changing experience and event. For any questions regarding preferred hotels and logistics for attending, contact the AHC. Attendee names must be into the AHC office by May 1 to make necessary arrangements. Any questions can be directed to Julie Broadway: jbroadway@horsecouncil.org
