Icebreaker Trail & Open Show

FRIDAY INTRO TO MOUNTAIN TRAIL MINI SHOW
CLASSES FOR THE INTRO TO MOUNTAIN TRAIL ONE DAY MINI SHOW – These will be very basic and inviting patterns without ponds, waterfalls or hills. This is designed for those wanting to try trail on a smaller scale.
INTRO MOUNTAIN TRAIL – NOVICE – $20 each
Novice is the “medium” difficulty level offered at all Mountain Trail shows. These Novice patterns will be simpler than those at the outdoor summer shows and the National Mountain Trail Championship November 2023.
INTRO MOUNTAIN TRAIL – EXPLORER – $20 each
Explorer is the “easy” level offered at all Mountain Trail shows. These Explorer patters will be simple, even more so than the ones you would find at the summer shows and the National Mountain Trail Championship. This level is designed for the young or very green horse/rider to have a confidence building experience.
SATURDAY CLASSES
THE BELOW CLASSES WILL RUN ON SATURDAY
HALTER CLASSES
This is an in-hand class. A halter class is defined as a class where the horse is judged based upon its conformation. Conformation is defined as the physical appearance of an animal due to the arrangement of muscle, bone and other body tissue. $10 each
IN-HAND TRAIL
See trail class description below. This class is performed in-hand. $20 each
TRAIL (UNDER SADDLE)
The trail class tests the maneuverability of an equine through an obstacle course. Common obstacles include one in which the rider will open, pass through and close a gate. Scoring is based on the horse’s willingness, ease and grace in negotiating the course. Under-saddle trail pattern class. W/J = walk and jog only. W/J/L = walk, jog, lope. $20 each
WESTERN PLEASURE
Under saddle, ridden in a group at either walk and jog only or walk, jog, lope. $10 each
WESTERN HORSEMANSHIP
Western horsemanship class is a pattern class designed to evaluate the rider’s ability to execute, in concert with their horse, a set of maneuvers. $20 each
SUNDAY CLASSES
THE BELOW CLASSES WILL RUN ON SUNDAY
SHOWMANSHIP
Showmanship classes involve the handler being judged on how well they can show the horse and how well the horse is groomed and prepared. – $10 each
HUNTER UNDER SADDLE
A English riding class ridden in a group. The judge evaluates a hunter-type horse on the flat, at walk and trot to walk, trot and canter depending on the class. – $10 each
ENGLISH EQUITATION
The English Equitation Class is judged primarily on the ability of the rider to perform individual pattern work with correct riding position and gaits. – $10 each
RANCH RIDING
In ranch riding class, the horse is shown individually in pattern work and is judged on the precision of the pattern maneuvers and the horse’s movements. – $20 each
LEAD LINE EXHIBITION CLASS (7 & UNDER)
This is an exhibition only class. All participants will receive a ribbon. – $5 each
