OSU Extension: Soil & Pasture Series – Unlocking the Secrets of Hay

Attendees will learn the types of grasses and legumes used for hay production in Central Oregon, how quality hay is harvested, how to test hay, and how to read a hay test. Attendees are welcome to bring a sample of hay to class for visual assessment.
- Differentiate between legumes and grasses
- Identify the best forage species for pasture and hay
- Know how to test hay
- Evaluate hay for quality
