SUMMARY:Cascadia Equine Veterinary Clinic Client Education Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our next horse owner presentation on Thursday\, September 28. Dr. Moran will be focusing on vaccinations and parasitology. \nWe all know that our horses need vaccines and deworming\, but we don’t always understand why. Vaccines are a hot topic in the news today\, and deworming recommendations have changed drastically in the past 10 years. This gives us lots to discuss! \nDuring this event\, Dr Moran aims to answer the most common questions about vaccines\, such as: \n\nHow do vaccines work\, anyway?\nWhich diseases can we vaccinate for?\nWhy do we vaccinate horses so often?\nWhy do vaccine reactions occur\, and can we prevent them?\n\nIn addition\, we will talk about parasites and deworming: \n\nHow do intestinal parasites affect horses’ health?\nWhy have deworming strategies have changed over the years?\nWhat are fecal egg counts all about?\n\nLet’s spend some time talking about the science and the reasoning behind these horse care basics\, so that you can make the best decisions for your horse. \nPlease follow the link below to register. Dinner will be provided. \nGeneral Admission: $15 \nStudents: $5 \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Acupuncture Presentation by Dr. Pasgaard
DESCRIPTION:Kelsey Palsgaard\, DVM cVMA\, will be presenting about acupuncture on Thursday\, October 14 at 6pm at our clinic.\n\n\n\nThe presentation is FREE to attend! Dinner will be provided courtesy of Boehringer Ingelheim.\n\nRegister here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/171517061147\n\n\nDr. Palsgaard is certified in veterinary medical acupuncture and will be speaking about acupuncture and its benefits on Thursday\, October 14 at 6pm. The presentation will be held at Cascadia Equine Veterinary Clinic. Registration is FREE and dinner will be provided courtesy of Boehringer Ingelheim! \nAcupuncture is a great tool to help aid in the health of your horse. Acupuncture works through neuromodulation to help improve the body’s healing abilities. While it started as a traditional eastern medicine technique\, it has been widely documented to be efficacious in evidence based studies. It has a wide range of effects on many aspects of the body\, affecting the central\, autonomic\, and peripheral nervous systems. The many physiologic effects of acupuncture allow for targeted treatment of a problem in addition to systemic neuroregulation to help aid in the restoration of normal function. In addition to traditional acupuncture dry-needling\, electroacupuncture is often used. \nElectroacupuncture uses an electronic pulse to enhance traditional dry-needling. Acupuncture needles are placed in their same points\, then electrodes are attached to the needles\, providing an electric pulse at that site. Electroacupuncture has been shown to give a stronger\, more consistent and prolonged therapy than dry needling alone. \nAcupuncture and electroacupuncture are used commonly used for pain control\, allergies\, nerve dysfunction (facial nerve paralysis)\, head shaking\, reproductive problems\, edema/swelling reduction\, and scar tissue reduction. Acupuncture can be used on its own\, or in conjunction with other treatment modalities.
