SUMMARY:Basic First Aid and CPR Training for Trail Crews
DESCRIPTION:Register here for the Saturday\, December 9th\, in-person skills training and assessment for Basic First Aid and CPR Training with a Wilderness Focus offered through Clackamas Community College\, at the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve\, Coos Bay\, Oregon. This training has two required parts: \n\nAn online\, self-paced learning module (4-6 hours) to be completed in advance of the onsite skills assessment.\nAn in-person skills verification (approx. 6 hours) beginning at 10 am\, at the auditorium at South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve.\n\nBy registering for this program\, you will receive the following at least two weeks before the scheduled skills verification: a participation waiver\, information on how to access the online training portal\, and information about what to bring and what to expect at the in-person training. The online learning module must be completed in advance of the in-person skills verification. \nSkills verification will be offered outdoors in groups of 7-10 participants per instructor. Skills verification will require participants to interact with others in their small group as practice patients and aid providers with COVID precautions in place. \nSuccessful completion of the program will result in a 1st Aid/CPR card valid for 2 years. \nCCC uses the American Health and Safety Institutes (AHSI) Medic First Aid curriculum. Participants will receive ASHI Medic First Aid with CPR and AED cards valid for two years upon the successful completion of skills verification. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to welcome clinician Vinton Karrasch for a two-day clinic on January 27th and 28th\, 2024! Vinton has worked with and for many renowned trainers\, such as John and Beezie Madden\, Anne Kursinski\, Robert Redland\, and Julie Winkel. Vinton’s teaching approach is thoughtful and direct\, and he promotes strong fundamentals while also incorporating sports psychology and his experience at the top levels of the sport.\nThe clinic fee is $500 per horse for two days of instruction. Groups will be set by horse/rider experience level. Please contact Zoe at 360-624-7189 or through Facebook to book your spot in the clinic\, a $250 deposit is required. SUMMARY:What is the Outdoor Recreation Access and Participation Survey (ORAPS)? Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Outdoor Recreation Access and Participation Survey (ORAPS) has been designed to measure activity participation by different groups and enable comparisons across populations and regions. Our goal is to develop rigorous national standards for collecting and disseminating information on outdoor recreation participation by US households at county\, state\, and national levels. ORAPS has been designed to provide a more complete understanding of outdoor recreation participation by explicitly considering equity and health issues\, and it includes modules on Access\, Motivations\, Participation\, Constraints\, Needs\, and Health (physical and mental). The webinar will go over survey development and piloting and a discussion about ORAPS partnerships (public and private) and implementation needs. \n  \nLearning Objectives: \n\nThrough the presentation of the origins\, development\, and legislative justifications for a national Outdoor Recreation Access and Participation Survey (ORAPS)\, participants will be able to evaluate the purpose\, need for\, and appropriateness of the survey.\nThe presentation of a theoretical framework and survey modules will provide participants the opportunity to differentiate the survey components and synthesize how they can be combined to understand recreation participation and address health and equity issues.\nParticipants will be able to appraise the lessons learned from the expert analysis.\nParticipants will review plans for future implementation and be able to offer recommendations for future development.\n\n  \nPresenters: \n\nDr. Wayde Morse\, Professor\, Auburn University\nDr. Lee Cerveny\, Research Social Scientist\, USDA Forest Service\nDr. Randy Rosenbergerm Professor\, Oregon State University\n\n  \nLEARN MORE AND REGISTER HERE
