DESCRIPTION:Location: Central Oregon’s beautiful Ochoco National Forest\, 28 miles east of Prineville\, OR – Ride Camp GPS\ncoordinates: 44-27-59.74 N 120-22-21.96W \nDirections: Drive on Hwy 26 east from Prineville to mile marker 48\, turn right on USFS Road #2630 (watch for AERC signs\nand ribbons) for about 2.5 miles. Look for ride camp on your right. \nCamp: Large\, grassy meadow dotted with old growth ponderosa pine and aspens. Horse water and porta-potties provided.\nPlease bring your own people water. All horse poop must be removed\, manure trailer provided.\n***WEED FREE HAY REQUIRED *** ALL DOGS ON LEASHES \nTrails: 5\, 10\, 15\, 20\, & 30 miles loops. The course is mostly single-track dirt trails with the remainder on old two-track\nlogging roads winding through pine covered mountains\, wild horse habitat and green meadows. Generally good footing\, and\nyes\, there are some rocky spots. Water provided or from natural sources every 5-6 miles. Terrain is moderate with some long\,\ngradual climbs. Keep an eye out for the gold that bandits left hidden in the hills in 1863 along with their six horses. The\nremains of the horses were found … but the gold never was… Weather can vary from cool & dry to hot and humid during the\nday. Nights are cool at the 5000 ft elevation. No cell coverage at RC. \nAwards: Completion\, Top Ten\, Jr & Sr BC (Must be 2 jrs in any given distance for a BC award) and a few fun awards.\nSaturday and Sunday awards at 7pm.

DESCRIPTION:Come join the Crook County Mounted Sheriffs Posse on a mounted GPS bandit hunt! We provide the GPS coordinates and the bandits. The goal is to ride to GPS location and “capture” the Bandit by taking a picture with your cell phone. Prizes are available for those that manage to “capture” all the Bandits. DESCRIPTION:Bring your horse or mule and riding gear to the equestrian parking lot of Elijah Bristow State Park and celebrate the New Year riding a variety of trail loops along Lost Creek and the Middle Fork Willamette River. Open fields\, oak woodlands\, cottonwood and Douglas fir forest make this ride scenic as well as peaceful. Hopefully the Pengra elk herd will be around. \nThis ride is part of America’s State Parks First Day Hikes occurring throughout the country. To see more visit: https://www.stateparks.org/special-programs/first-day-hikes/ \nMeet time: 11 AM \nFoot in stirrup: 12 PM \nMeet at: Elijah Bristow Equestrian Lot \nTrail Names: Heron\, Elk\, River\, and more. \nRating: Easy to moderate. \nLength: 1-3 hours; lots of trail loop options. \nThings to note: No dogs please. Hot drinks and snack available 11 AM-12 PM. Bring plenty of warm clothes\, especially gloves\, warm coat\, and hat. No registration required. Oregon Equestrian Trails organization is co-leading this event with a Park Ranger staff.
